5th Opening by Experienced Japanese Restaurant Group in Vancouver -Japanese Seafood and Spain Tapas Fusion Cuisine

 A new Japanese restaurant ‘Kamei Baru’ (990 Smith Street, Tel: 604-559-8588) was open in downtown on May 7th. It is the fifth restaurant managed by Kamei Japanese Restaurant Group, which has expanded business in Vancouver and Richmond since 1976. It was soft-opened in the middle of March.

 ‘Kamei Baru’ has different concept from other sister restaurants, introducing ‘new Japanese style tapas with Spanish touch and atmosphere.’ There are about ninety seating including tables and bar on the second floor. Director Shingo Masuda said,

“We intentionally chose different kinds of seating for customers to enjoy the atmosphere every time they visit us.” The interior on the second floor is associated with deck of ship, and Japanese and lounge style tables and Western bar are set up.

 The main dish is seafood with Japanese cuisine tasted of Spanish-bar. ‘We highly recommend oysters and mussels.’ In addition to Raw Oyster (CAD 4.50 ~) and Fried Oyster (CAD 8.50), they serve more than twelve kinds of unique dishes, such as Oyster Dog (CAD 8.50) filled bread with home-made tartar sauce, cabbages, and oysters.

 Shrimps, squids, chorizos, shimeji mushrooms, broccolis, paprika, and mussels are in regular Spanish menu Paella (S = CAD 14.50 and L = CAD 22.60). “Unlike authentic Paella, our Paella brings out tasty Japanese rice.”

 Their ‘vaunted wide variety of’ drink menu includes eight kinds of draft beer (CAD 4.50 ~). They serve nine kinds of house wine (Glass: CAD 5.50 ~) and thirty kinds of bottles of red and white wine (CAD 28 ~).

 Mr. Masuda said, “Talking about dining out, food and entertainment (service) needs to be provided. Kamei Baru provides relaxed atmosphere and service as well as taste to enjoy oysters and alcohols. We would appreciate it if you enjoy the atmosphere in each restaurant.”
